One final comment just came to mind. When it comes to whether or not we should have a strong opinion on whether the flood was global or local (or an allegory or something), I think that is a question of exegesis rather than apologetics. The apologetic question, I think, concerns how to make sense of what the Bible says in conjunction with what the geological record seemingly says (if they are in tension in some way).
